Dates and locations

Date and time

In the info panel click change next to the date, or use Edit for a selection. Set a date, or shift every selected photo by the same amount (handy when a camera's clock was wrong). iopix writes the EXIF, IPTC and XMP date fields digiKam writes, and digiKam's own date.

Location

Set location in the info panel, or in the selection bar for many photos at once:

  • search a place, landmark or address,
  • click the map or drag the pin,
  • paste coordinates ("50.85, 4.35"),
  • copy from the previous photo,
  • or remove the location.

The altitude fills in with the ground height at that point unless you type one.

Suggest location lists where the photos taken nearest in time were taken, within six hours, with how long before or after. With Google Cloud Vision set up, it can also ask Google to recognise a landmark in the photo.

Placing photos on the map

Map › Place photos shows a tray of photos without a location (your current search and filters apply). Find a place, select photos (Shift for a range), and click the map, or drag them onto it. While placing, single markers can be dragged to a better spot. Each change has Undo in its message.

GPS tracks

Edit › Correlate with GPS track matches photos to a GPX file from a phone or GPS logger, like digiKam's geolocation editor: positions are interpolated between track points, with the camera's time zone, a clock correction and a maximum gap. You see a preview before anything is written.

Satellite and Street View

Every map has a Map / Satellite switch. Street View is offered when setting a location and in the info panel.
